I’m using the Timekeeper we built in Excel in the last blog post. It may feel awkward at first, but this is similar to training for a race. You get up, get going, get warm, and run your race. Start with form. Speed will come at its own pace. If you have already managed to track a whole day, congratulations! You are ahead of me.
While I have been using the Timekeeper, you can see from the entries below, I have not been faithful to the plan. Diet and exercise require tracking and execution to work, and that is okay. Much like with any effective and strategic plan, it is important to always return, review, and try again.
From looking at the above, you can see that I need to do better on both the quality and quantity of the data entries in order to use this data to make better decisions in the future.
The Timekeeper is a good start, but it lacks functionality and refinement. One of the early direct results of Digital Transformation is capturing better data, which is more valuable and more useful. In order to do this, we need to significantly evolve the workbook. Here I have made a short list of features to add and strengthen this method:
